Dipsikha Das passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was in presence of her loving family.

Dipsikha was the only daughter and the elder child of Mr. Madan Gopal Bhowmik and Mrs. Pranati Bhowmik of Kolkata, India. Her grandfather was a learned scholar on the Vedanta philosophy, and he was also a deeply religious person. She married Sudipta Das on January 1998, in Kolkata India when she came over to the States.

Dipsikha was a very bright student throughout her academic career. She did her graduate studies in comparative literature. Her PhD thesis was on imagery in the poetry of W.B. Yeats and Jibananda Das, a great Bengali Poet. She was blessed with the God-gifted faculty of painting and inborn flair of mastery over Bengali literature and language.

Dipsikha was a very sensitive lady with artistic temperament. She loved nature, poetry, and music from the core of her heart. She excelled in cooking too. Scarcely do we meet such an accomplished lady in all respects.

Dipsikha is survived by her beloved husband, Mr. Sudipta Das, adorable daughter, Rai Kamalini Das, a brother Biswadip Bhowmik; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

May her soul rest in peace.

“The Man, who is from God sent forth,

Doth again, to God, return;

Such ebb  and flow must ever be,

Then wherefore should we mourn?

~William Wordsworth

“ Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark.

For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far.
I hope to see my Pilot face to face,
When I have crost the bar.

~Alfred Tennyson
