Obituary of Francis B. Sweeney, Jr.

Francis B. Sweeney, Jr. of Brighton, passed away on May 26, 2020 at age 88.

Predeceased by his parents Francis B. Sweeney Sr. and Marion Forristal Sweeney; siblings: Patricia, Maryann (John) Landers, John, Joan Johnson, and Robert; sister-in-law, Maureen Salway.

Survived by his wife, Carol Cunningham; their children: Francis B III (Carol), Thomas C (Michele), Deirdre (Thomas Whalen); grandchildren: Patrick, Meghan, Hannah Sweeney and Thomas Whalen; sibling, Rosemary (Thomas Geen); brother-in-law, Norman Salway; sisters-in-law, Mary Sweeney, and Kathy Sweeney; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Francis “Frank” was born in Rochester, NY. He was a veteran of the Korean War. After serving honorably in the Army, he worked for, and eventually owned the AR Bowman Company. Just prior to his retirement at 80, Frank was ranked #3 in the country in the construction specialties market.
Frank was an avid skier and horse racing fan. He devoted himself to many groups and causes over the years, but most notably the American Legion (Dotty Magill Post), where he was a past commander and member for over 50 years.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
