On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Barbara (Cook) Russell, loving wife and beloved mother of four children, passed away at age 80, after a difficult illness.

Barbara was born in Rochester on January 22, 1940 to John and Mary (Buckholtz) Cook. She graduated from Mercy High School in 1958 and married William J. Russell on October 28, 1961. Together they raised four children, Colleen, Kevin, Kathleen and Charlene. Barbara had a passion for her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her five grandchildren. She often traveled to visit her out of state family and hosted the holiday gatherings at her own home every year. Barbara was well known for her generosity, thoughtfulness and kindness to all. She never missed an occasion to celebrate her family and friends’ lives and their accomplishments, often with a gift from QVC. Barbara enjoyed gardening and loved to decorate her home for every holiday. Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister and was the touchstone of her family throughout her life.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, John, her mother, Mary, and her brother, Joseph. Survived by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, Bill; by her devoted children: Colleen (David) DeSoto, Kevin Russell, Kathleen (Brian) Soper and Charlene (Jeffrey) Chadwick; cherished grandchildren: Jordon Soper, Connor Chadwick, Kyle DeSoto, Ryan DeSoto and Garrett Chadwick; extended family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held for the family and friends on Wednesday, June 24th at St. Thomas More Church. Private Interment will be at White Haven Memorial Park.
