Obituary of Cornelius Van Dekken

Formerly of Henrietta. August 28, 2012 at age 84. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley (Radner); children, Stephen Neal (Fran) Van Dekken, Valerie Robinson, Judy Wandtke, Sandy (William) VanDerveer; grandchildren, Stephen Bo and Sara, Lex (Michelle) and Dale, Jr.; great grandson Lucas; step-brother, William Conklin; sister-in-law, Trudie Bardo; brother-in-law, Carlyle (Betty) Radner; Godchild and niece, Bonnie Chudyk; several other nieces and nephews; cousins in the Netherlands and the USA; special cousins in England, Marie (Miep) and Edwin Entecott; local cousins, Irene (Dick) Leveson, Ethel (Art) Petty and Vivian (Neil) Day. Special friends, Charles and Chris, Duane and Mary, Pat, Dawn and Skip. Neal retired from Gleason Works after 43 years. He was an avid gardener who for 50 years, sustained his 2 acres of property on Calkins Road to be a beautiful park. He also told several friends that he was “The Mayor of Calkins Road”. Special thanks to the staff at Alpine Manor Home for Adults, Conesus Lake Nursing Home, Morgan Estates, Chris Sexton, and Debbie Florack for their above and beyond care, comfort, and friendship. The family would also like to express their gratitude to his favorite eating and gathering place in Avon, “Mama Gilmore’s Bistro” – STRAWLOO-. No calling hours. Private interment.
