Obituary of Ione Louise Sharp Collier

Former resident of Painted Post, NY, passed away November 21, 2012 at Beverly Park Place Nursing Home in Knoxville, TN. She now joins the love of her life, husband, Madison Monroe Collier. Also preceded in death by parents George and Eva Sharp, brother and sister in law, Edgar Frank and Kathryn Mary Sharp, all of Corning, NY, and Benjamin Stephen Niver, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Elmira, NY. Ione is survived by nieces Sharon Ione Sharp Niver of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Corning, NY, Jo Ann Sharp of Marca, Switzerland, formerly of Corning, NY, nephew Thomas George Sharp and wife, Barbara Sharp of West Henrietta, NY. She is survived by many great nieces and nephews and many great great nephews. Ione is also survived by her cousin and life long best friend, Verna Boardman of Florida. Ione was born in Bath, NY on July 19, 1912. She was a graduate of the old Corning Northside High School. She attended the Twin Tiers Christian Church in Painted Post, NY. She lived in New York until 1997, when she moved to Knoxville, TN to live with her niece and nephew, Sharon and Benjamin Niver. Ione celebrated her 100th birthday this past July, surrounded by family and friends. Ione passed peacefully in her sleep after a short illness. She will be missed by all of us, but none more so than her most faithful caregiver, her great niece, Teri. The two had a special bond, a lot of time spent chatting, beading and eating ice cream.
