Jill, Sam, Ben,
When I heard of Steve‘s passing I was saddened, but I have fond memories of his friendship and love for his family.
I remember his professionalism as a pilot when we worked together in Houston.
I remember his laughter and friendship over dinners at my house and yours.
I remember visiting the hospital when Sam was born. His first word were, (with a big smile) “Meet my daughter”.
I remember his pride when he told me Ben was going to the Academy.
I remember him telling me how much he loved his job at NetJets.
No doubt you will remember these things too.
My condolences to you and the extended family,
Dale Walsemann

Jo, Sue, Jeff, Jill, Ben & Samantha,
I was shocked to read of Steve's Death. My Heartfelt sorrow for your loss is hard to express. I only had a few encounters with Steve that were brief, but could tell what a wonderful person he was in those moments. Cherish the memories and celebrate his life ever chance you get because I'm sure that is what he would want you to do. Tears are healing and shed freely can be of immense help to the soul.

Dear Family and Friends of Steve,
From our first meeting in Lubbock, Texas as T-38 instructor pilots, to flying together with Netjets, Steve showed he was a superb pilot, generous in spirit and enormous in character. Most of all, he loved his family beyond measure. We will all miss him...and can only hope that time will both ease your pain and preserve your wonderful memories of him.

Dear Hessney family, Steve and I were friends from first grade when I followed him home to play in his sandbox until high school, but then I lost touch with most everyone from that time forward. I remember his blue corvette after he graduated from the Air Force Academy and mostly visiting with Janet (his Mom) during the afternoons in our Jr. and Sr. years. I still have the cheesecake recipe. I'm sorry to hear of his death and wish the family and friends comfort and peace. Gail

Steve and I met in the months before entering USAFA. We were fellow Western New Yorkers, and our families became good friends through the Academy parents’ network. We spent many hours together on several long drives home in Steve’s blue Corvette. Although we seldom connected since graduation, I always remembered those good times, and I was pleased that we were able to visit briefly at the latest Class Reunion. I am deeply saddened at the loss of my good friend. My wife Leslie and I offer our prayers and sympathies to Jill, Ben and Samantha, and to all who knew and loved Steve.
