Obituary of Sophie Barnett Gay

Beloved mother, sister and friend, Sophie passed peacefully January 3, 2013 at the age of 86. She will be sorely missed by many, including her children John (Wendy), Brian, Mary Ann (Don) Wood, Mark, Tim (Grace) and Karen (Chris) Lada.; her dearly loved grandchildren Sharon Duran, Michael Gay, Rachel Stack, Jessie Moran, Starnebula Cherrington, Antares Gay, Christopher Wood, Lauren Gay, Claire Gay, Kevin Gay, Emily Gay, Daniel Gay, John Gay, Meaghan Lada and Rachel Lada; sister Teddy Clark; brother Neil (Judy) Barnett, daughter-in-law Pamela Gay. Also, six great-grand-children, several cousins, nieces and nephews and many many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zojia and Theodore Swift Barnett, her step-mother Isabel Barnett, her sister Adele Barnett and her husband of 54 years John, her son Stephen and daughter Ellen. Sophie had a deep love of life and people. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and reading, but most treasured being with her family. She had been a resident of Valley Manor, where she spent her last four years becoming friends with other residents and the staff. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at Valley Manor for providing her some of the happiest years of her life. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church (Corner of Rhinecliff & Imperial Drives, Brighton Click for a Map) on SATURDAY, January 12 at 11 AM.
