Obituary of James L. Carney
Born on October 10, 1929, raised in Silver Springs, New York, passed into the arms of his Holy Father on May 30, 2013. Jim was the last of his 11 brothers and sisters to leave this Earth. He was reunited with his beloved wife, Dorothy, who was received into glory in 1988. Jim is survived by his 5 children, Cindy (Terry) Lockwood, Tim (Molly) Carney, Jeff (Pam) Carney, Dave (Ann) Carney, and Sue (Barry) Ackerman; 8 grandchildren, Justin, Courtney, Matt, Dori, Allison, Megan, Kyle, and Aaron; 1 great-granddaughter, Morgan Carney.
Jim was a proud 40 year employee of Eastman Kodak Co. Government Systems Division under the direction of the National Reconnaissance Office and was a Korean War veteran. He was an avid sports fan, playing baseball into his 70's and continued his love of baseball as a coach for several years in the CYO leagues and at the local American Legion Post Ely-Fagan. He raised his 5 children in Henrietta, New York and spent his final earthly days with the compassionate staff of Strong Memorial Hospital.
Friends may call Sunday 1-4:30 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 3325 Winton Road South, where his Funeral Service will be celebrated at 5 PM in the funeral home's Interfaith Chapel. Interment Monday 10 AM at Pine Hill Cemetery, Rush, NY.
