Cousin Mary- we are the last of the Mans family line that came to America aboard the SS Mauritania and settled in Rochester in 1906. We all are the descendants of Leon Françoise Mans and Marie Helene Heisserer of Strasbourg,France . Your father Joseph Mans and mother Frances Effinger often brought you to our home on Clifford Avenue to visit your grandparents. My mother Marie Schuhart Mans often noted that you were the cutest little girl - with blond hair, blue eyes and rosy cheeks.
As often happens in our modern society, we have grown apart over the years, but we are sure your mother and father are proud of all you have accomplished in your life. The first Mans to graduate from college (Nazareth) and earn an advanced degree (University of Rochester) . Your 38 years as teacher of History in the Rochester City School system. An impressive legacy for your students and your colleagues.
Mary…, we wanted you to know that you are in our prayers and that we have always loved and cared about you. Now that you are in heaven, with your mother and father and all of our ancestors…we ask that you pray for us as we strive to do God’s will.
Rev. Leo J. Mans, Formerly of Rochester Diocese, now New Oxford, PA.
