Obituary of Katherine S. Proper

Pittsford, on March 10, 2014 at age 84. She is predeceased by her husband, Taco. Survived by her son, Taco F. Proper and his wife Susan and many dear friends. Kay was born and raised in Rochester and after her marriage lived many years in Brazil, Portugal, Holland and Hong Kong. She was a member of the American Women’s Club (AWC) of Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon and Hong Kong and served on their respective Boards. She also served as editor of the Rio and Lisbon AWC monthly bulletins and was also an active member of the Rio and Lisbon Theater Guilds. In Hong Kong, Kay served as Chair of The Servicemen’s Guides Association for several years; an Association which is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization for the purpose of offering friendly hospitality to Hong Kong’s visiting naval personnel – with the largest numbers of visitors being from the U.S. She also served as editor of the annual booklet that the Association distributed free to every serviceman upon his arrival in Hong Kong. Kay traveled extensively throughout Asia and the world. She was an avid philatelist and a member of the Hong Kong and American Philatelic Societies.
