Lou always had time to speak to real, ordinary people. It was not necessary to be a 'somebody' to have Lou spend his time with you. After having surviving an involved spinal surgery that sidelined me from active involvement in our woodturning group, The Fingerlakes Woodturners club Lou telephoned me while I was still recuperating at home and spoke at length to me as if I was the most important person alive. It did not matter that my turning days were at a standstill.

I loved reading about Uncle Lou. I wish we had been able to have more contact as families. The Sparta reunions with all of us are among my fond memories. I have always thought of Uncle Lou and Aunt Norma as warm, kind and loving people. I know he will be missed by many.

Gretchen, this is a wonderful memory of your father. I wish I had known him. His legacy clearly lives on in his daughters. I have no doubt that future generations will come to know him through your writings. Write everything you can.
