Obituary of Shirley E. Sonnemann

Age 93, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Springfield, VA, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2014. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Carol Jean Sutter (James) of Rochester, NY, Joyce Elaine Lundeen (Mark) of White Bear Lake, MN, and Patricia Anne Brown of Berwyn Heights, MD. She also leaves her grandchildren, Gwendolyn Trusz, Brian Close, Daron Close, Jennifer Reio, David Brown, and Jeremy Brown, as well as great-grandchildren, Lucas Trusz, Owen Trusz, Maya Close, Dylan Close, and Annabelle Reio. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Sonnemann, to whom she was married for 63 years. Shirley was born in Massachusetts and lived there until joining the Ice Capades cast of 1944 for one of the most memorable years of her life. After meeting Harry at the Rockefeller Center skating rink, they married, and lived most of their lives together in New Jersey and Virginia. While raising her family, Shirley became a watercolor artist whose career spanned 43 years. Her paintings are enjoyed by many. Home Rochester, New York Birthplace Norwood, Mass
