Obituary of Dorothy C. Klingenberger

Klingenberger, Dorothy "Dottie" Henrietta, NY: Passed away October 6, 2009 at the age of 80 after a long illness. Predeceased by brother Harold. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack; daughter Amy (Michael) Cahill of West Henrietta, NY; and sons Donald (Kayt Conrad) Klingenberger of Cedar Rapids, IA and Scott (Lisa) Klingenberger of Carriere, MS; her sisters Hilda Johnson and Fern Collward; brother Vern Collier (all of Williamson, NY); her grandchildren Michael John and Christopher Cahill, Sophia Klingenberger, Thomas Ragan, John David and Amy Alexandra Klingenberger; sisters-in-law Donna Klingenberger, Nancy Palmer, and Sharon Klingenberger; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Dottie graduated from Williamson High School in 1946 where she was a cheerleader and drum majorette. She was also an award-winning majorette with the Williamson American Legion Band. After high school, she worked at Central Trust Bank where she met her life companion Jack. Dottie was a long time office assistant and teacher's aide with the Rush Henrietta Central School District until her retirement in 1998. She also ran an after-school program at Winslow Elementary School for many years as an employee of the Town of Henrietta. "Mrs. K" or "Mom" to many of her children's friends, she was proud to attend dance recitals, sporting events, theatrical productions, and award ceremonies especially for her grandchildren close to home and far away. She also enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, and knitting. Many of her creations can be seen adorning her family's homes. Dottie enjoyed vacationing in the Adirondacks for many years and could often be seen wading in Indian Lake, looking for loons, or watching her family water ski and sail. She particularly enjoyed her after-dinner boat ride around the lake. Dottie was a member of Asbury First United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff from 3 Reservoir of St. John's Home and Lifetime Care for their loving care over the past 4½ years.
