Daniel P. Ryan
Brighton: Died October 9, 2009, at the age of 73, after a long struggle with Lewy Body Disease (click for more information). He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2006 and his parents, Daniel & Mary (Quigley) Ryan. Survived by his four children by his first wife, Patricia: daughter, Patricia (Dan) Goodman of Collingswood, NJ; and sons, Daniel Ryan of Silver Spring, MD; Dr. Stephen (JoAnne) Ryan of Pittsford, NY, and Sean (Kim) Ryan of Kensington, MD; grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Hale, Matthew, Andrea, Neil, Joseph, Shannon, Kelly & Brooke; great-granddaughter, Jianna; sisters, Eileen Williams & Margaret (Richard) White; brother, Edward Ryan; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Daniel was born in Flushing, NY, the third of four children. He graduated from Manhattan College and New York University with degrees in Engineering. He worked on system design for planes, mainframes and the WDC Metro fare card system. In his retirement he was a hike leader for Sierra Club, wrote plays for live theatre, videoed for public television, gardened, and competed in seniors' softball and volleyball. He traveled to six continents and always loved to learn about other cultures.
A special thanks to the staff of the Memory Care unit at the Jewish Home of Rochester who loved, cared and supported him for the last 10 months.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 16th, 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc., 3325 Winton Road South. Daniel's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (601 Edgewood Ave. Click for a Map to Church) on Saturday, October 17th at 10:00 AM . Interment private.
