Obituary of Robert Bruce Slaughter
Survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rep. Louise Slaughter, three daughters, Megan (Richard) Secatore, Amy Slaughter and Emily Robin (Michael) Minerva, and seven grandchildren: Lauren and Daniel Secatore, Maximillian and Jackson Clark and Mason, Linus and Ione Minerva.
A three letter man at the Wooster Preparatory School, he graduated from Union College in 1954. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-55 and settled after his discharge in the Rochester area, where he worked at American Can Company and the Eastman Kodak Company, retiring in 1991. An accomplished craftsman, Bob was known for his
beautiful woodworking projects and picture frames, photography, gardening and cooking. He built dulcimers and taught himself to play them. He bought a sloop, and taught himself to sail.
“The thing that I most often heard about Bob was how much he smiled and how much he taught others,” Mrs. Slaughter said. “He was loved by everyone who knew him."
