Obituary of Yuk Ha Ip
Yuk Ha Ip
Yuk Ha Ip was born in city of Xinhui, China on December 8, 1933. She immigrated to United States from Hong Kong in 1984 with her husband and sons, and settled down in New York City. Although she did not know much English, she was able to make many friends and was actually very active in the China Town area. She has been known as "Ha Jie" by many friends there.
She eventually moved to live with her older son’s family in Rochester, New York in the last seven to eight years. It was quite an adjustment to her, but slowly she began to make friends in Rochester Chinese Christian Church as she accompanied her son’s family to church every week. However, she still enjoyed going back to New York City for a few months every year to see her friends, enjoy some good Chinese food and play “mahjong”.
We rejoice in the Lord that she has decided to accept Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized on this year’s Easter Sunday.
She passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2014 at the age of 80. She is survived by her husband, Yu Yiu; two sons: Jimmy (Sally) and Tommy (Ada); four grandsons: Nathan, Samuel, Ryan and Roland; plus many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She will be forever remembered as a lovely, caring and sweet person, and a devoted mother and wife in her family.
The family will receive friends on SATURDAY, June 7th at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services from 9:00 - 10:30 AM, with a Funeral Service celebrating Ha Jie's life to follow at 10:30 AM in The Interfaith Chapel of the funeral home. Click here for a map to Miller Funeral and Cremation Services.
