It was a true pleasure caring for Carl on our Unit (6-3400) at Strong. His sense of humor was delightful and I will always remember walking into his room to discover him and a group of buddies playing poker at the round table in his room - they were laughing and having a great time!
Please accept our deepest condolences,
From the entire staff of 6-3400, Hematology/Oncology Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Adam, Ryan and Brent... my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss of your dad. It is difficult to lose a dad.
I remember many parent teacher conferences and so many many parent teacher phone calls. I could always reach your father because he was always available for his children. It was clear that he loved you very much and still loves you. It is said, "Life has changed, not ended." Continue your lives in ways that make him as proud now as he always was of each of you.

He will always be remembered as you share the stories and the memories of how he lived his life and how very much he meant, may you find comfort...And, throughout this difficult time, may you also know the deep sympathy and concern that is felt for you and all your family. I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith.-2Timothy 4:7. As for me, I will lie down that I may sleep; I shall certainly awake, for Jehovah himself keeps supporting me. -Psalms 3:5

Carl was a fun loving husband/father/individual. I'll never forget moments at the Gerringer house where he cracked me up with something he'd say whether it be making fun of me, josh, or brent. One memory that I really enjoyed was a time when we all went to a knighthawks game together and "Crazy Dad Carl" (as the announcer said it) was on the jumbotron with us boys yelling "go hawks! go hawks!" Whenever I go on that back porch of yours I'll think of times Carl would sit out back relaxing, smoking his cigar, with max and meeka hanging around. I'm just glad that he isn't in pain anymore and is in a much better place. The Gerringer family has always been strong, this will only make them stronger.

Carl was the most fun Uncle ever, he was always more like one of us kids (cousins) than an adult! I remember driving to Grandmas & Grandads when we were little, we knew we were there when we saw the big face he had painted on the barn. We are praying that your memories help you find peace and comfort, Love Geri-lynn, Doug, Sean & Danielle

Carl – I will miss you! You were such a great person. You always made me smile when I saw you as you would greet me with a big hug and kiss. You had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. You were so passionate about so many things like your favorite sports teams. I will never forget “horrid” and “you’ve got nothing” yelled at the Knighthawks games. I will also be careful what I throw into the camp fire. I’ll miss hearing you sing those patriot songs…God Bless America and Star Spangled Banner. You were such a Mr. Fix It…I’ll never forget Darien Lake State Park! And of course I’ll miss partying with you.

Carl,
I had a chance to spend time with Barb and the boys and to listen to them share so many wonderful memories of you.The hundreds of pictures that Barb has only show a small part of the full and happy life that you shared with your family and friends. You were truly blessed to have such a fun and loving family. You touched so many lives and the love and laughter that you left them is enormous.
I remember the time that Rita and I were driving in the dark on a narrow dirt road to a party at Honeoye Lake. You hid in the bushes and then jumped out and threw yourself on the windshield, which caused us to scream with such fright, that I was never to forget it. We all ended up laughing so hard after the shock had passed. You were the one to always take the dare and prove yourself.
I will truly miss my big brother and my sadness is only lessened by knowing that you had such a fullfilled life.
Love you always,
Jackie

A better man, there is none. Carl loved Barb, Ryan, Adam and Brent. He was a best friend to all, a true gentleman. I'll always remember the parties, so much fun and constant laughter, thanks for always making sure my bottle was full. I'll miss singing the oldies with him in the corner with Country music in the background. It will not be the same without Carl. I am lucky to have known such a great man.

One of my favorite memories of Carl -- a basketball game at Middlesex School. They had a good team. We were in a close game & Carl was in for rebounding only. Fact was, Carl was not a good shooter. Suddenly, Carl had the ball, about 12 feet from the basket & was shooting the ball. The coach -- Mr. Munn -- & about half the team all jumped up & yelled "NO" at Carl shooting the ball. He made the shot. A swish. We won the game thanks to his basket.
Keep shooting, old friend !!

Uncle Carl, I have to tell you one of the memories I have that has always stuck with me is the fact that you let me drive on the New York State Thruway before I had my license. You let me drive for about an hour. That was over 30 years ago and I can still remember how cool it was to do that like it was yesterday. Rest in peace uncle Carl..you Rock!!!

I haven't seen Carl or Barb in many years but Barb and I had a special friendship when we were kids. I'm so glad you had the time you did with Carl. Such a kind, gentle man from what I remember. It's hard to grasp right now but with time you Will be ok. Somebody told me that and it helped me a great deal. I hope you and your children can find comfort in your memories of Carl. I am so sorry.

I'm not even sure where to begin. I feel so blessed to have known such an amazing person. Always a smile or a laugh to share, I could never get enough of being around Carl. Whether we were just shopping at Walmart or Wegmans, or sitting in the creek, there was always a good time to be had. I have so many great memories that each one leaves me with a smile and the feeling that I got to be friends with one of the greatest people ever. I will never forget Carl carrying the girls around whenever they asked, or winning them toys at the fair. We will always remember all of the good times, and you will always have such a special place in our hearts.

Someone almost twice your age is the last place you think you would find one of your best friends, but that is exactly what happened with Carl. No matter where we were we always had a great time. Whether it be drinking around a campfire, drinking at a party, drinking at the Knighthawks, breakfast at The Sunrise, Walmart in Hornell, or bloody mary's in the morning. Carl, you will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Carl was my brother in law for 25 years. He was always there for my sister, my parents and anyone else in the family who needed his help or just felt like hanging out and enjoying a sunny day together. Carl always had a smile on his face and a glimmer in his incredible blue eyes. Lots of great memories with all the kids, the holidays, weekends by the pool, the early days before kids (wow!). So many wonderful memories. Carl, we have been so blessed to have you in our lives for as long as we did. I love you and will miss your happy, smiling face. You belonged to us for so long. You still belong to us in our hearts. Be at peace dear brother in law. You will never leave my heart.
