Obituary of Irmgard Lydia Hollis

Irmgard “Omi” (Stein) Hollis, 83, died peacefully Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Loretto Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y., with her family by her side. She was born in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Gustav (father) and Friedrike (mother) Stein. Irmgard was educated in Germany before marrying Raymond Hollis in 1959 and immigrating to the United States. They shared many wonderful years together in Henrietta, N.Y., raising two sons, before Ray’s passing in 1992. She became a U.S. Citizen in 1962. Irmgard was very proud of her German heritage, passing many of her traditions and recipes onto her family and friends. She loved to laugh, read, garden, enjoy the sunshine, go to any and all garage sales, shop at Wegmans, and spend time with family and friends. She worked for many years at SCJ Associates. Irmgard “Omi” will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents and husband. Left to cherish her memory are sons; Thomas Hollis and his wife Patricia of Elbridge and Christopher Hollis and his wife Cheryl of Camillus; two grandchildren Lyndsay and Nathan Hollis; one brother Rolf Stein and his wife Usch, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
