Obituary of Laura F. Lowell

Laura Lowell, age 98 of Henrietta, NY, went home to her Lord on November 10, 2015. Laura was born October 4, 1917 in Schenectady, NY. She was the younger of two daughters of the late Aubrey and Laura Freshman. Predeceased by her husband Lawrence. Survived by son, Larry (Nancy) Lowell; Linda (Henry) Gintner; four grandchildren, Eric and Scott Lowell, Allen and Alisa Gintner; four great grandchildren and two nieces from Niagara Falls, NY. As a young child, Laura’s family moved a lot because of her father's job. They settled in Memphis, TN when Laura was 14 years old. She married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Lowell in September 1939. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1943 with their son, Larry. The family had to adjust to winter and snow. They had a daughter, Linda, the following year. Laura earned a BA degree while raising a family. She became a teacher in the Cleveland City Schools. She taught first grade for 15 years. She loved teaching little children to read. Laura was creative in holding the children’s attention and using many tools of the trade to help children read and enjoy learning. We would hear stories around the supper table about her children. When Laura retired she taught ESL to a family in Cleveland from Viet Nam. She started with the 19 year old daughter in the family. Laura spent 2 years teaching her English. Then Laura worked with the parents to help them learn also. It was so rewarding. Laura has always been involved with her church. She became a member of the Order of St. Luke in 1980, a healing ministry in the Episcopal Church. She believed in the Lord’s healing touch. She was willing to share her faith with friends and often prayed for them and their families. Laura also belonged to Daughters of the King. Laura enjoying being on the committee at her church that took meals to those who were sick or had a loss in the family. Laura prepared meals with another lady from the church. They were happy to cook for others and help them out. No prior calling. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Laura’s life on November 21 at 11:30am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church (3825 East Henrietta Road Click Here To View Map) with a luncheon/reception to follow in the parish hall. Service Info

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church (3825 East Henrietta Road) on SATURDAY (11/21), 11:30 AM. A reception and luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

Interment

Will be held privately in White Haven Memorial Park
