Thanks to Jim for the books and the years of great association and friendship. He was a special person to know and associate with. We always wonder about final episode in his book! Sympathy to Nancy and the family. Am so glad he got to be close to family and grandchildren.

Nancy, I just learned of your recent loss. Please know how much I appreciated Jim's comments and insights at the bookclub, and happenstance meetings elsewhere. From the comments from his former students I can see how well regarded Jim was among those he taught. That is a sign of real respect.

Nancy, you and Jim have been such wonderful participants in our nonfiction book club these past three years. I will always think of Jim with a sparkle in his eyes and a lilt in his voice as he made such insightful comments. I know that club members, including me, will miss him. When you are ready, please join us.

Nancy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. I remember the two of you walking by my house as you got your exercise. I am also thinking this will be a good winter to re-read my signed copies of Jim's Blue Water mystery books which I thoroughly enjoyed the first time.
Stay strong.

Dear Mrs Maywar; I was so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. Both of you always made our Sunday's special at Barnes & Noble. He was always so kind to all of us & had a ready smile for us all. I will be saying prayers for you & your family. God bless.

Nancy - We're so sorry about your husband. I remember hearing you speak together at a gathering in Port Huron - very insightful & humorous. My daughter & I came to you for counseling back in 1995. We were adjusting to our new family dynamics. But now we're both working in the same elementary school here in Ann Arbor! It's all good, just like you said it would be. I'll never forget you and your wise words. Take good care of yourself - you're a special lady.

I am so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. My thoughts are with Nancy, Eric and Drew and the rest of the family. As you probably know, Fred died in September of 2010 from cancer. He thought of the Maywars and the Berdens as family. He would be so sad to hear about Jim. Thank you for being such wonderful people and for being so great to my son. God bless you all.

Hello. My name is Stephanie Urban. I attended SC4 from 1987-89. I had Mr. Maywar as a teacher for two classes, Sociology and Social Problems. He was a wonderful teacher! I had Sociology first, and because I enjoyed the class so much and his style of teaching I signed up for Social Problems the next semester. I remember a couple papers that I wrote for class, and his comments on my papers were so positive and helpful and encouraging. I am sorry for your loss, he definitely will be missed I am sure.

Hi Nancy,
If you gave a 'talk' in Port Huron and I knew about it, I was there to hear it. I am so sorry for your loss and hope you and your family will be comforted by the many happy memories you have of a very special man. I especially enjoyed hearing you talk about your special relationship in your presentations. He was a good guy!
