I first met Paul when we were both freshmen at East High School. My name was Dorothy Nothhard at that time. I saw him in the hallways as we passed for classes. He had a big smile for everyone, no matter how any of us was feeling. His smile always helped us. Jean Andrews was also in our class. Jean was raised by the Vail family after her mother died. They were like brother and sister. Joan Beaulac, another classmate was friend to us all. Joan married Bob Shaw; I married David Leidig and we lived as neighbors on Filon Avenue in Irondequoit. We all saw one another on many occasions and had our own reunions. The president of our class lived in California, Since he could not organize reunions, Paul and Joan performed this service for the class. Paul diligently maintained the class list with contact data. He organized the reunions, found the sites, hired a photographer. Our final reunion was 2012, our 65th. Your entire family can be extremely proud of Paul. He was an amazing person who brightened all of our lives. God's blessings, Dorothy Leidig

I am so sorry to be unable to with you at this time. Love and hugs to all. I am feeling so fortunate to have been one of the kids of your dad's 'village'. He will be greatly missed. My last memory of him is a wonderful image of him striding across to street to visit this past summer with his always present wonderous grin.

Paul was a great friend and neighbor to us for 38 years. Always ready to help solve any problem we were experiencing. Paul had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. We were so happy to hear he was able to spend Christmas Eve at his house with his family. We will truly miss our next door neighbor. Our sympathies to his family

To the Loved ones of Paul.
My desire that in this difficult time all your family and friends receive the comfort they need. John 5:28, 29 contains words of hope to give us wonderful hope for the future resurrection where we eternally enjoy the company of our beloved without diseases and suffering.
(Psalm 37:11, 29) Have comfort and peace.

Mr. Vail was always a favorite amongst the children in the neighborhood. His holiday decorations were always larger than life and come Halloween, they might actually scare you - if you were old enough. That chainsaw was such a thrill! I will always remember him fondly. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
