Obituary of John Quackenbush 'Jack"
John “Jack” Quackenbush was born to Hiram and Helen (nee Collins) on June 10, 1925 and departed life on March 23, 2016.
Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country during both WWII and the Korean War. He met his wife of 70 years while stationed in Portland, ME in 1944. They married in 1945 and moved to his hometown of Rochester, NY and then to Henrietta to raise their family. Jack was active in the community, serving as a Boy Scout leader and as one of the original organizers of the Henrietta Volunteer Ambulance. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1985.
John is predeceased by his parents, his brother Louie, and his son Duane. He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine; son Gary (Karen); grandchildren Rick, Jaime Lynn (Jason Luft), and Timothy (Joy); several great-grandchildren; sister Lesta Wren; brother-in-law Sam (Kathy) Messer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Lifetime Care Hospice staff, especially Luanne, his nurse, and Dan, his health aide, for their support in helping Jack remain at home throughout his final journey.
Family and friends are invited to express their condolences and share memories at the family home from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Interment private.
