Obituary of Joane W. Beardsley

Beardsley, Joane W, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2016 at the age of 88 years. She was the beloved wife of Glenn H. Beardsley; loving mother of Susan (Douglas) Deer, Randall (Jean), Alex (predeceased), Jeffrey (Patti); and a doting grandmother and great grandmother of many. She grew up in Maplewood, NJ then attended St. Lawrence University where she met Glenn. They married soon after her cum laude graduation in 1949. Having been a psychology major, she began work on Wing R of Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. After moving to Henrietta, she was a substitute teacher while raising a family of four children. When her children were older she had a career for 23 years as Assistant to the Registrar at RIT until she retired. She enjoyed many activities through the years including camping with the family and getting together with good friends for bridge club every month. She went to Florida with Glenn every April for 30+ years and was joined by various family members on different years. Through the years she put together puzzles, glued them and decorated her walls with them. She always put other people’s well-being before her own. Lately she enjoyed simpler things such as going out to lunches and spending time with the grandchildren. She read to her children and grandchildren, and played piano for other’s enjoyment. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday April 10, at 2:30 PM at Rush United Methodist Church, 6200 Rush-Lima Rd., Rush, NY. A reception will follow immediately after, at the church. Memorial contributions in Joane’s memory may be sent to Rush United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
