Obituary of Roberta J. French

Roberta J. French passed away peacefully on April 16, 2016 at the age of 80 years. She was the beloved wife of Phillip D. French for 45 years, when she then became a widow with his passing in 1999; a loving mother of three children, Ronald French who passed in 2006, Gail Andrew (Ray), and Donna Major (Robert); a devoted grandmother of 5, Carolyn Emerick, Patricia Woolcock, Jeffery Emerick, Deanna Ingraham (Alan), and Lisa MacBlane (Robby); and a great-grandmother to 3, Matthew, Mason, and Micah. She grew up in Cortland, NY, and after graduating high school, came to Rochester for nurses training. After graduating nurses training she worked as a Registered Nurse at the old Rochester General Hospital, and later School Nurse Teacher at the Gates-Chili School District for 25 years before she retired. During nurses training is when she met and married Phillip French, beginning their lives together. She gave of herself unconditionally, always putting the needs of others first before her own. A mother and grandmother who was on call around the clock for love and encouragement, with the wisdom to always lead her loved ones in the right direction. She was thought highly of by many very close and wonderful friends. Harry Miller being her dearest, who was by her side, and her great support for many years, up until the end. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. A private memorial service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery, in Rush, NY for family and close friends.
