I was a classmate of Mary Kay during her early days at Holy Apostles. Although I have not been associated with Mary Kay for many years, I was struck by the memory book comments of her family, friends and associates. The memories describe a family oriented, fun-loving person of high character who had the strength of her convictions. I remember a very young girl from the Lyell-Austin area with those same characteristics. It’s good to see that life didn’t change her. I share with you all the sadness from Mary Kay’s passing.

I used to wait on Mary when I worked at the Answer on Jefferson Road. I used to call her when I had yellow suits come in (She was with Laidlaw at the time). I loved her personality and am sorry for your loss.

Dear Bob, Karrie, Courtney and Christopher,
Please accept our sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear wife and mother. Jerry and I, along with my parents were planning on coming to the calling hours last night, but our newest granddaughter had other plans. Denise delivered our little angel at 3:02 p.m. yesterday. Elianna Noel Hershey.
I know you will miss MaryKay on this earth, but believe that someday you will be together again. Jesus died to give us everlasting life and those who believe will be with Him in heaven. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and I hope to talk to you soon.
Love,
Barb

Mary Kay brought much joy and laughter where ever she went. My favorite Mary Kay story is about her integrity and courage. We had an issue once about a student with extreme physical disabilities. Mary Kay did not let the student skate on the "pity pass" but held the student accountable - one of the very few instructors who ever did. She valued what she did, the standards of her class and expected all students to meet those standards. What better gift can a teacher give to her students? We will miss her but know she will always live in our hearts.

Mary Kay was a wonderful person. She was great to work with at FLCC but I really enjoyed working with her at SJR's vacation bible school. She would always laugh at my jokes even though most were not funny. No one could do snacks like Mary Kay. She will be missed here but certainly a wonderful adition in heaven.

It's been awhile since I last talked to her, but I will always remember her. I am sorry for your loss Bob, and family. I know she will be missed.
