Obituary of Dr. Laurent J. Kaleka

Dr. Laurent J. Kaleka, M.D. Passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2016 at the age of 73. He is predeceased by his parents, Henri and Berthe – survived by his wife, Carol, sons, Gregory and Paul, his dog, Lili, and brother, Richard. Laurent was born in Toulouse, France, December 26th 1942, and grew up in Paris. He and his brother enjoyed modest success as singer-songwriters in France and the US throughout their young adult lives. Laurent went on to practice physical therapy. He moved to the United States to attend UCLA and went on to medical school, completing his residency in 1983. He practiced anesthesiology for 30 years, retiring in 2013. He was so proud of his two sons, whom he considered his greatest accomplishments. His love of skiing was unmatched; he traveled with his sons and wife to many parts of Europe and North America in pursuit of the perfect slope. He lived a full life; "I have done everything I wanted to do." Laurent leaves his family with many wonderful memories that will keep him close and in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, Laurent’s family is accepting donations towards a memorial bench for Laurent's burial site. Any excess funds will be donated to an animal welfare charity.
