Obituary of Laurence C. Davis, Jr.
Laurence C. Davis, Jr.
"Larry"
July 20, at age 82. Predeceased by his father, Laurence C. Davis Sr., his mother, Roberta G. Davis, and infant grandson Eric Berry. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laura L. Davis; brother Ray Davis; sister-in-law Eunice Arras; children Sally Berry (Richard); Laurence C. Davis III (Shelley); Nancy Kho (Andrew); grandchildren Daniel, Ryan, and Katherine Berry; Zachary, Shannon, and Tristan Davis; Madeleine and Lucy Kho.
Larry graduated from Clarkson University in 1956 and went to work for Kodak, retiring in 1993. He began volunteering at the Brighton Fire Department in 1972, serving as commissioner for 22 years and chairman of the board for seven years. He and Laura began taking their children to Family Camp at YMCA Camp Gorham in the Adirondacks in 1968, a multi-generational family tradition that endures today. He served on the Camp Board for over 25 years.
Larry lived a life of service, whether grilling hot dogs at the Brighton Little League parade, painting fences at Camp Gorham during work weekends, or leading the renovation of Brighton's fire houses. He relished golf, long distance drives, and most of all his family and many friends, including the Branford Road bunch, the Family Camp family, his fire department buddies, his golf league friends, and his neighbors at the lovely house where he and Laura moved ten years ago.
The family would like to extend its thanks to the hospice team at Lifetime Care, especially nurse Luann Britton.
