To the Piacelli family. Al a/k/a "Peaches" Piacelli met my wife before I met him when my wife taught 2nd grade at the Kodak Park Elementary School, I think it was 41 School. When I met Al, as a Rochester Police Officer I found him to be the professional Police Officer and gentleman that my wife described him to be. I know that your family has suffered a great loss losing this wonderful man and the whole Rochester Community surely feels this loss as well. I wish we were not so far away because we would like to come and pay our respects in person. Our prayers and thoughts are with you this time of grieving. Gary Birkahn (RPD Retired), and Bonnie Birkahn (CSD Retired).

Dear Mrs. Piacelli;
I am sad to hear of Al's passing.
I remember 'Officer Friendly' visiting our school.
Al served as an inspiration to me. Upon joining the RPD Al was one of the officers I would seek out to assist me.
It was a privilege and honor to know and work with him.

I am very sorry for your loss. Al was a great man and role model. I was able to meet Al, probably in his glory years when we worked together at the Golden Bear Driving Range about 15 years ago. He was a joy to talk to and be around. I saw him in passing from time to time since and he was always so happy to talk and catch up. Truly a great man, he will be missed.

Al Piacelli was "Officer Friendly" when I attended Holy Rosary School in Rochester's 10th Ward.
Al was a wonderful man and role model. He would come into our classrooms, in full uniform, and talk about safety. He was such a nice guy and all of the kids had great respect/admiration for him.
When I joined the Rochester Police Department, I would see Al and I would always tell him that he was one of the reasons why I chose my career.
Al was a good man and he gave Rochester great service throughout his career. The Piacelli name is one of respect.
My condolences to Al's family. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
A great cop and a true gentleman.

Dear Family,
My sympathy for your loss, Al was a professional police officer. I also was assigned to the Traffic Division when
Al rode a cycle. He had a smile that never left his face and won't be soon forgotten. He was truly " Officer Friendly."

I want to take a moment to thank GOD for allowing me the opportunity to meet Al Piacelli. I met him when I was hired as a T.O.P., Teen on Patrol when I was 16 years old, way back in 1972, along with Officer Butch Johnson and Sgt. Giamarva. Chuck Sutton and Emma Postwaite were the other T.O.P.'s that I worked with while "patrolling" the old Genesee Valley Swimming pool. He was a wonderful Police Officer, leader, and man. He taught me so very much without sitting me down in a classroom. He LIVED the way most of us talk about. 8 years later, I was sworn in as a member of the Rochester Police Officer, promoted to sergeant in 1997, retiring in 2010, all in part of Al's influence. I owe much gratitude to Al, and I am thankful that I told him many times over the years what he did for me, and what he meant to me. GOD Bless You Al!!!
