Obituary of Mary Lou (Piccolino) O'Brien
O'Brien, Mary Lou (nee Piccolino)
Minneapolis, MN – Age 74 passed away peacefully July 15, 2016, after a brief illness, surrounded by family and friends.
Mary Lou was born on September 2, 1941 in Syracuse, NY. She graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1959. Her career included working for Drs. James and George Heitzman and then, upon moving to Rochester, NY in 1967, she worked for a private medical practice before her employment at Monroe Community Hospital where she worked a long career until retirement. Two years ago, she moved to MN to be closer to family.
Mary Lou was the definition of a perpetual friend, confidant and extended family member. She lived life out loud, with confidence, grace and composure with a positive outlook. Her loves, besides friends and family, were Tom Jones, the Buffalo Bills, sunflowers, dancing and any type of party. Whatever brought people together for laughter and good times, Mary Lou was either hosting or an active participant. Lifelong friendships have been formed because of the people she brought together. To say she’ll be dearly missed would be an understatement. There will only be one Mary Lou O’Brien, and those fortunate to be in her life will forever be better people because of her.
Mary Lou now joins her brother, Louis, and sister-in-law, Carolyn, as well as her parents and other family members and friends. She leaves on Earth her nephew, Adam (Joy) Piccolino; nieces, Amy (Terry) Herbig and Lisa (Pete) Fisher, and great nieces and nephews (Sophia, Ava, Emerson, Trenton, Honora and Aedan), along with many dear friends.
A memorial service, to celebrate her life, will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the Interfaith Chapel at the Miller Funeral and Cremation Services 3325 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. Following will be a continued celebration of her life at Valicia's Ristorante in Rochester until 2:00pm. At the family's request please wear clothing with a sunflower design, bright and cheery colors, or her favorite team the Buffalo Bills. Mary Lou would love it! Her burial will take place on October 1, 2016 at the Assumption Cemetery 2401 Court Street, Syracuse, NY at 11:00am.
