A native Rochesterian, Olive Marian Munzer Ford was born on April Fool’s Day, 1915 to Oscar Munzer and Blanche Isora Van Riper Munzer. She, her brother Edward Norman and sister, Janet Louise, grew up on Seward Street in the 19th ward.
Olive was in the last class of Madison Jr. High before it was converted to Junior and Senior High. From there, she graduated from West High School. After graduation, Olive was employed by Eastman Kodak Company and eventually served in the capacity of Secretary in Print and Color Processing Services. While working at Kodak, she met her sweetheart, Raymond Ford, and was married in 1940. Olive and Ray welcomed the birth of their only child, Beverly Ann on December 4, 1942.
Church was very important in Olive’s life. While she was young, she attended the Emmanuel Presbyterian church. There, she was part of a youth group that started the McGee Society for youth. After her marriage, she attended Westminster Presbyterian and became a member of Christ View in 1973. Like her mother before her, she was a member of the Eastern Star. She belonged to the Order of Amaranth and to the patrol team and the White Shrine of Bethlehem.
Olive Ford's life was long and blessed. And, just as she had an unshakable assurance in the redemptive miracle of the living Christ, so we have an unshakable assurance that, through faith, all things are resurrected to dwell in peace, in love and life everlasting.
