Obituary of Richard K. Anthony

Richard Koch "Dick" Anthony Mr. Richard Koch "Dick" Anthony, 70 of 91 Brandywine Terrace, Rochester, NY died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Hildebrandt Hospice Center, Rochester, NY, after a strong multi-year fight against cancer. Dick was a loving father, grandfather and brother who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He valued his faith in God and family above all else. He enjoyed trips to the beach, family bike rides, playing cards, coaching, volunteering for church and attending Syracuse games. Mr. Anthony was born in Altoona, PA on March 16, 1946, son of the late Robert W. and Mary E. (Koch) Anthony. He was a member of Good Shepard Catholic Church, Rochester, NY where he served as Confirmation Teacher, Eucharistic Minister and church volunteer. Dick was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Altoona, PA where he lettered four years playing football and later helped coach. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He retired in 2009 as a Loan Officer, Rochester NY with 38 years of service. Dick is survived by 3 sons, Richard J. (Christine) Anthony, of Dayton, OH; Thomas F. (Jennifer) Anthony, of Rochester, NY; and Steven R. (Krista) Anthony, of Deer Park, NY; 3 grandchildren, Joan, James and Amelia, 10 siblings, Robert W. (Rosemary) Anthony, Jr. of Duncansville, PA; Mary Elizabeth (Nicholas) Bruno of Summerville, SC; Susan Crouse of Altoona, PA; William (Deborah) Anthony of Hollidaysburg, PA; Dorothy (David) Berger of Altoona, PA; Joseph W. (Sandy) Anthony of Altoona, PA; David F. Anthony of Kirkland, WA; Gertrude K. Anthony of Philadelphia, PA; John T. (Cindy) Anthony of Altoona, PA; and Sarah M. (Sally) (Edward) Franklin of Altoona, PA. Dick was also survived by many nieces and nephews and special friends, Dale and Bonnie Belknap and Lee and Eileen Fitch. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, PA with Fr. Dennis Kurdziel officiating. Committal Rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, PA. Friends will be received Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4-6 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 3325 Winton Rd. South, Rochester, NY 14623, 585-424-3700 and Friday, November 18, 2016 from 4-7 PM at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, PA where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held during the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Family Center, 87 Clinton Ave., North, Rochester, NY 14604.
