Obituary of Frances S. Guenther

Frances S. Guenther Canandaigua: After 91 years went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2010. She is predeceased by her husband, Howard; parents, Selma and Frank Meier; brother, Frank Meier; son-in-law, Craig Waddington. Survived by her daughter, Jeanne Waddington; son, Howard (Theresa) Guenther; stepdaughter, Bonnie (Douglas) Bennett; grandchildren, Deborah Boe, Kimberly (George) Pashardis, Heidi (Gary) Haus, Nicole Guenther, Scott (Robbie) Bennett, Chanay Guenther; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Fran is a graduate of The University of Rochester Eastman School of Music and a fifty-year member of her music sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota, with which she worked to bring organization, music, and honor to her sorority by working with college members, as well as alumni over the years. Fran received The Rose of Honor, a National Award, in 1990 for her work and dedication to her sorority. Fran taught public school music in Greece Central Schools, where she had a marching band. She also taught music in the Rochester City Schools. She brought music to virtually everyone she touched, either with her voice or her piano playing. Fran was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, where she directed the junior choir and was a member of the senior choir. She also visited the VA Hospital in Canandaigua twice weekly to play songs for the residents. For twelve years, Fran volunteered at St. Ann's Home, working with ministers to perform church services on Sundays, while bringing music and comfort to those she ministered to.
