Obituary of Nancy Leitten

Tuesday December 20th 2016 at age 73. Predeceased by her Husband, Richard A. (“Dick”) of 45 years; Parents, John and Marie Courtney; Brother James. A loving mother, Nancy is survived by her Children, Richard (Kristin), Carl (Melissa), Mary Ann (Robert) Rietveld, Margaret (Thomas) Bowen, Andrew (Brittany); Twelve Grandchildren: Abigail, Hannah, Jack, Daniel, Rachel, Patrick, Emily, Liam, Ethan, Gabrielle, Hayden, Andrew; Sister, Mary Ann; Brothers, Jack and Dick. Nancy, born in Dearborn, MI lived the past 50 years in Henrietta, NY. She was a graduate of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. Upon moving to the Rochester area she was a teacher in the Victor school district. Nancy, a humble, kind and gentle soul, devoting her life to her faith, husband, children and grandchildren. She lived her life with a selfless kindness in service to her family and community through countless volunteer activities. An active member of Third Order Carmel, she enjoyed attending daily mass with her faith family and found solitude in taking trips to the Abbey of the Genesee. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and watch them grow. Her famous holiday cut-out cookies and chocolate angel food birthday cakes will forever be a part of the Leitten family traditions. Mommy, time to thank you for being a loving wife and mother. It is your love and caring guidance that has kept our family close together. May her love of God, her devotion to Our Lady, and belief in the sacraments continue to guide us for the remainder of our lives. Our mother, Nancy, pray for us. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 PM at Miller Funeral Home (3325 Winton Road South). Nancy’s Mass of Catholic Burial will be private. Contributions may be directed to the Carmelite Monastery (1931 Jefferson Rd. Pittsford, NY 14534).
