Dearest Kirsten, Susan, David...my heart has memories that instantly go to your house on Barrington St. in Rochester when I first met your mom. I was only 14 going on 24. Rose's accent and energetic drive totally captured my attention. She had just painted your room orange and had the back porch of your bedroom transformed into a loft area for your bed! How COOL was that! White wicker furniture accented well as an array of teen clothing strewn all over your floor propelled me into 'straightening-up' before your mother came in! Of course! and so began yours and mine long standing friendship. Her beautiful voice, I can still imagine as she gave me directions to Sue's house on 'V'estland or should I say, 'Westland'...I drove around that afternoon in my car looking for 'Vestland'! LOL!
On a serious note, your mom's story of having to flee the Hungarian Revolution with just the clothes on her back has always captured a tender and very piercing place of compassion in my heart for her. I couldn't even imagine what she went through as a young woman during such times...and again when I spoke to you on the phone, I thought of her again against this historical background. So in her honor, I looked up and read about 1956-57 revolution in Hungary. You were born soon afterwards-my, my...the complexities of human drama and life crisis can only bring about the beauty of compassion, reflection and the pondering of human beauty in its drastic contrast. Rose's life was a life-lived epic-drama that when observed from a perspective of how a life can be ever connected to the intense drama of an historical moment in time- hers then brought meaning in the very way of how much more the joys, the rainbows, and the lives shown even more brightly and more profound around her! Dear Kirsten,Sue,David and Family,
We are so sorry for your loss.
I will always remember the good times and many talks and advice we shared. I have lost a dear friend that was like family. We stayed at Rose's home when we came to Rochester and she made us so welcome. She stayed with us in South Carolina. We went through good times and bad times . Deaths, births, birthdays, tears and laughter. Every Day truly is a gift. Rose loved her children with all her heart. Love and prayers to all the family.
