Obituary of Karl Francis Schraml

Karl Francis Schraml Karl Schraml passed away peacefully at age 84 in Lincolnshire, IL on January 15, 2017 after a long illness. Born on February 22, 1932 in Rome, NY to German immigrants Karl and Theresa (Stamn), he graduated from St. Aloysius Academy (Rome, NY) in 1950 and attended Mohawk Valley Technical Institute (Utica, NY) and the University of Rochester. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic control tower operator during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 in Germany and Libya. He began his professional career at General Electric in Syracuse, NY working on contracts for NASA, but in 1966 moved to Henrietta, NY and spent the rest of his career working for Xerox in Henrietta and Webster, NY. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Barbara Anne Roth. Karl was predeceased by his parents, his wife Barbara, his brothers Bernard and Paul, and his sisters Barbara (Ruane) and Frances (Coluccio). He is survived by a sister, Theresa (Mazzacua) and his children Suzanne (Kenichi) Kogishi of Bellevue, WA, Mary (John) Canty of Lake Bluff, IL, and Mark (Janine) of Vienna, VA along with five grandchildren, Airi, Barbara, Jack, Jay, and Cooper. Family and friends are invited to call at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 Winton Rd. South, Rochester on Saturday, February 4th from 9:00 to 10:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 4th at 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Church, 2061 E. Henrietta Rd, Rochester. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman Street, Rochester, New York 14620.
