Obituary of Jens William Richardsen
February 15, 2017. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Son of Swedish/Danish immigrants, Jens and Thyra Richardsen who predeceased him.
Attended Brooklyn Technical High School and City College of NY where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering and later earned his Professional Engineer's license.
Married to Doris (Jacobsen) for almost 58 years, they had three sons. Predeceased by son, Glenn Carl; and daughter-in-law Rosa. Survived by sons Jens Douglas and William Eric; daughter-in-law, Patty; five grandchildren, Julie, Lauren Roy (Andrew), Jens, Christian, and Jett; two great grandsons, Lane and Lucas Roy; sister, Ingrid Harris; nieces and nephews; many cousins in the United States, Sweden. Denmark, and Norway. A 4 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Bill had just gotten word that he was approved for Honor Flight this coming April.
Bill and his wife started Nordic Heating and Air Conditioning, a mechanical contracting business in Rochester, where he designed and installed heating, air conditioning and ventilation for many commercial building projects in the Rochester area for 27 years.
He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and later served as Building Inspector and then Supervisor for the Town of Rush where he resided. Bill also taught several classes for the Architectural Department at the Finger Lakes Community College for 10 years.
Before his retirement he worked for the NYS Dept. of State in the Building Codes Division where his responsibilities covered 7 counties.
Bill was a member of Elks Lodge #24. He enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime including scuba diving, leather working, travel and most recently woodcarving and woodturning. He generously shared many of his projects with friends and acquaintances. The family wishes to thank the Lifetime Care Palliative Care Group for their support.

MONDAY 11 AM family and friends will gather for Bill's funeral service at Pinnacle Lutheran Church, 250 Pinnacle Road. Interment private.
