Obituary of Nancy J. Wundrow

Nancy J. Wundrow (Richardson) Our beloved sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home in Rochester NY on February 18, 2017 at age 84. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Walter J. Wundrow; her parents, George and Margaret Richardson; and her brother, G. William Richardson. She is survived by her sister, Diane (Michael) Matlock of Cape Coral FL. Nancy leaves five children and seven grandchildren. Her children are Brenda (Angelo) Castiglione of Monroeville PA, Walter (Diane) Wundrow of Houston TX, Joyce (William) Weir of Pittsford NY, James Wundrow of Niles OH and David Wundrow of Bethesda MD. Her much-loved grandchildren are Caitlin Weir of Pittsford NY, Emily (Logan) Greer of Houston TX, Sean Wundrow of Naperville IL, Michael and James Castiglione of Pittsburgh PA, William (Marianh) Weir of Durham, NC and Mary Wundrow of Niles OH. Nancy is also survived by a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. Nancy was born in Buffalo NY and grew up in Lancaster NY where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Buffalo State with a teaching degree. Nancy was a resident of Clarence Center NY (27 years) and Bolivar NY (23 years) before moving to Rochester in 2009. In addition to her profession of teaching, Nancy enjoyed bicycling, hiking, and traveling with family and friends. She was a member of several Bolivar area organizations including St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, Home Bureau, Garden Club, Lioness Club, and the Red Hat Society. Always interested in politics, Nancy also served for many years as an Election Inspector. While her children remember her sewing, baking, and homemaking talents, Nancy enjoyed drawing and her work was selected for the online art gallery sponsored by the LeadingAge NY. Nancy was also a loving owner of her cat Sweetpea for 20 years. Nancy left the world a better and more loving place for her 84 years. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Mimi’s Blessed Angels and the staff of the Episcopal Senior Life Communities for their loving care of our mother. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 22nd from 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 Winton Road South. Nancy’s Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 3:30 PM in the Chapel of the Episcopal Church Home, 505 Mt. Hope Avenue. Friends are invited to call at 2:30 PM in the chapel before the service. Interment will be held on Friday, February 24th at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bolivar, NY. Contributions may be made to CP Rochester or the National MS Society in her memory.
