I am so saddened to have heard of my Uncle Robert's passing. He was such a great motivating and inspiring uncle. Although we didn't get to see each other often, the times we did get to spend together were always full of adventure and learning.
Even at a very young age I was always amazed with what he was designing and building. Not only did I get to watch but participation was a requirement.
Beyond all the "work" we had to do when my siblings and other cousins visited upstate New York we always had time for fun games of Thanksgiving football, soccer, hiking, camping. I remember all the adventures fondly as I reflect.
He has definitely left a amazing legacy behind and it shines through in all his creations. Especially within my cousins John and Bill with their great talents to create and both of them just being genuine great men.
My heart goes out to you both and my Aunt Sandra and all my family who I know miss him dearly.
I look forward to all of us getting together again on Cape Cod this summer to reflect and share all the wonderful times we have had together with my Uncle Robert and to make new ones.

My Brother Robert was "Mr Project Leader" of the Lovell Family. He was a man that did not let grass grow under his feet !!
Robert was always planning and completing with creative genius projects of epic proportions such as the beautiful Victor home and grounds, Eastman Kodak systems projects that involved multi national manufacturing operations and many unique furniture projects that are of museum quality. .
Growing up with Robert in Wellesley, Mass my twin Kathie and I worked on other epic projects such as building over 5 years a 300 ft stone wall, excavating by shovel and constructing a cellar under our house and removing and reusing the broken granite rock from glacial boulders with "fire" and a 16 lb sledge hammer. Our Dad Carleton, a turn of the century MIT Civil Engineer, was always nearby giving us timeless advice on making things simple such as building slip forms for the walls and using the Roman techniques of lever, sledge hammer and "fire" to reduce rocks to workable size.
When we did get our families together either in Victor or on the Cape, Robert had our week planned out with fishing, soccer games and sitting around the dinner table telling "colorful" stories of his and Lovell Family history.
We believe Robert passed on a legacy of achievement to his sons, Bill and John that will live on in them. I am very thankful of having Robert as my Brother.

Robert, or "Robbie," what we called him when my twin brother Ken and I were little, was our big brother. he was 7 years older than us, so whenever he did "grown-up" things, we were always in awe--like joining the U.S. Marine Corp. He taught us how to make that bed you could bounce a dime off of and how to do a few pressure holds on your wrist so you would drop anything you were holding.
As we got older, even though we lived a distance from each other, we always managed to bring our families together for summer vacations--especially on Cape cod. I have many pictures of the cousins enjoying outings at the beach or at an amusement park or on a rocky water slide.
My brother was a hard worker and always had a project going on. When we were in our teens, we all helped in digging out a basement in the cellar of our family home in Wellesley. Robert built an "elevator" so that we could crank up a wheelbarrow filled with dirt and then dump it at the back of the property. It was quite a task, but an amazing undertaking that was successfully completed. It was always interesting to see what kind of project we would be accomplishing whenever my family visited their home in Victor. One time we even moved several "large" trees! He didn't like where they were growing!
It was always a pleasure to be with him and his family and to help out on those sometimes "wild" projects. I will miss my "big" brother terribly.
