Obituary of Judith Ann Herron Brown

Judith Ann Herron Brown June 3, 1939 – March 2, 2017 Judith Herron Brown passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2017. She was 77 years old. Judy was born June 3, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA to James and Elizabeth Herron. She grew up and graduated from high school in Bellevue, PA. She was a 1961 graduate of Penn State where she met her husband of 54 years, Stephen Brown, in the spring of 1960. They were married in February 1963. Their daughter, Susan, arrived in January 1966 while Steve was working for Standard Oil of New Jersey (later Exxon) in New York City. Their years with Exxon took them to Miami, FL, San Salvador, El Salvador, Caracas, Venezuela, Brussels, Belgium, Darien, CT and finally to Houston in 1991. Unsure at first, Judy would become a big fan of Houston. Living overseas inspired a lifelong love of travel. Paris and the California wine country were favored destinations. Judy was also passionate about books and reading. To the end, she was a supporter of the Exxon wives’ book club she joined decades earlier in Connecticut. Judy is survived by husband Steve, daughter Susan and son-in-law Michael Richmond (Pittsford, NY), sister Susan Kozusko (Indiana, PA), brother James Herron (Germantown, MD) and beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the West University United Methodist Church, 3611 University Blvd, Houston, TX 77005. The Rev. Carol Bruse will officiate. A private interment will occur at a later date in Pittsford, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of Judy’s favorite charities: the Houston Food Bank, the Women’s Home (Houston) or the Houston Hospice.
