Obituary of Jayson M. Tedesco
Jay grew up in Penfield, going to Asbury Daycare, Indian Landing Elementary, Bay Trail Middle School, and then to McQuaid Jesuit High School. Besides taking his trade classes at MCC, he also “attended” Nazareth, but only to party in the dorms with his friends who were the actual enrolled students!
Jay and Meredith have been inseparable since meeting in December 2001. They married in 2005 (during a flashflood that made the wedding reception “famous”). That November, Jaymeson was born, followed by Kiley in 2007. He’s “the best daddy ever” as the kids say, and making them laugh via their inside jokes, his voice impressions, or anything else was his daily goal. He loved to do all kinds of activities with them, but especially loved his time swimming in the pool with them, and attending Jaymeson’s baseball games.
Jay worked at J&D Deli, a couple lawn services, and was an electrician for almost 20 years, and very proud to be an IBEW Local 86 union brother. He spoke fondly of so many in his union and only wished he had joined sooner. To him, the ‘86’ is another branch of his family tree.
Although notoriously opinionated, he’s one of the most outgoing people you’d ever meet. He never missed an opportunity to make a new friend or bust someone’s chops, but he would do anything for a friend or neighbor in need. You’d be hard pressed to find a friend of his that doesn’t have at least one story about his crazy antics, his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, or his work ethic. And with being an only child, he considered his very closest friends to be his siblings.
He has enjoyed all sorts of hobbies and interests over the years including baseball (Penfield Little League), lacrosse (McQuaid), playing trumpet, softball, motorcycles, racing his Mustang Cobra, poker tournaments, paintball, taking the boat out on Irondequoit Bay or Lake Ontario, bowling, hunting “yotes” or deer or turkey, plowing things down with his “3-1-5” tractor, lighting off fireworks any time during the year, fishing down at Ellison or Linear Park, and many, many more. His most notorious hobby though would have to be lighting up the fire-pit in the backyard… his favorite place to sit and think, or talk and drink! He just recently got into “fancy beers”, and loves finding new IPAs and other styles that he and Meredith would enjoy. He also loves music and dancing – “circle-dancing” to EDM, rapping to old 90s hip-hop, jamming to some 80’s or the “Cassettes On Tape” band, or slow-dancing with Meredith or the kids to something softer.
His presence was so boundless that it will be impossible not to feel his loss or remember him every day.
Funeral services will be held privately, with a celebration of Jay's life to be held on June 16th, 2017 from 4-7 at the IBEW Local 86 Hall, located at 2300 E River Rd, Rochester, NY 14623. We look forward to hearing your Jay stories!
