Obituary of Marlene M. Nielsen
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Friday July 14th, 2017; her 79th birthday. Predeceased by her husband, John Nielsen; mother, Helen Lawrence; father, Harry VanDusen; brother, Harry VanDusen Jr.; brother, Bill VanDusen. Survived by her children, Colleen (Mark) Brockett, Doris (Charles) St. Clair, Kay (Wayne) Baker, Nancy (Dave) Sessions, John (Stephanie) Nielsen; grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Grimes, Nicole (Tim) Eller, Alan (Nicole) Baker, Doug (Christie) Baker, David Sessions, Elizabeth Nielsen, and Jack Sessions; great-grandchildren, Quentin & Eli Grimes, Everett & Alden Eller, Haylee & Olivia Baker and Lillian Baker; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Zadon, Betty (Alex) Karras, several nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors.
She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her interests included: crocheting, knitting, building puzzles, reading, playing cards and games, and spending much quality time with her family and friends. Marlene was a lifelong homemaker who spent her entire life caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others. Even the cold winter months could not keep her from taking a drive through Mendon Ponds Park in hope of seeing deer and other elements of nature.
Family and friends may call Friday July 21, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. at 3325 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623. Marlene's Funeral Service will immediately follow calling hours on Friday. In lieu of flowers, Marlene's family requests donations be directed to Lifetime Care Hospice, 3111 Winton Rd. S., Rochester, NY 14623.
