Obituary of George F. Aberle

Survived by: wife, Rev. Mary E. Martin, brother, James (Ernestine) Aberle, children, Kathryn Aberle(Greg)Hill, George Frederick(Jenifer) Aberle III Stepchildren: Jean (Robert) Bendix, Barbara (Gary Hirsch) Thieme, Mark (Maureen) Simpson Grandchildren Nikolas and Lukas Aberle, Allison Hill, Aubrey and Chelsea Bendix, Joshua and Cassandra Thieme, Matthew(Amy)Simpson, Aaron(Taylor) Simpson, Bryan Simpson. Great grandchildren: Teagan and Declan Simpson. He is also survived by Marion Perry and children Mikayla, Ian and Evan.

George graduated from Blair Academy in 1948, Providence Bible Institute, 1951, Wheaton College, 1952, Princeton Theological Seminary 1961.  He pastored churches in Butler PA, Lafayette - Orinda, CA, and Medford OR.  He was Chaplain at Lewis and Clark College, Portland, OR before coming east to be Vice President Development at Gateway Youth and Family Services, Buffalo, NY, now Gateway - Longview.  In retirement, 1994, George has been active with Fairport United Methodist Church and groups within that church, Kamina Friends (Africa), Men's Group, Centering Prayer and others.  He also served on the Board of Directors of Grace Urban Ministries now Northwest Neighborhood Outreach Center.  In Buffalo, he was a Kiwanis member and in Rochester of member of Rotary International.

A celebration of George’s Life will be held 3 PM SATURDAY Sept. 9, 2017 at Fairport UMC, 31 Church Street, Fairport, NY 14450. Contributions may be sent to NNOC, PO Box 13109, Rochester, NY 14613 or Fairport UMC in his memory.
