Holly and I send our condolences to the Finch boys. We were sorry to hear about Don passing away. I have many fond memories growing up seeing and spending time with your mom and dad at family events. Your dad was a very cool guy, hard worker and dedicated family man. It was always a pleasure to spend time with them and hear their stories. Our thoughts will be with you.
Love,
Chris and Holly

My heartfelt condolences to all the Finch sons and extended family. I lost a good friend the other night. I lost an era of Don & Nancy that has always set a benchmark for me. When I was born, my cousin Don was fifteen. By the time I opened my eyes and started to view life, Don had attained his first benchmark. He found true love. He found Nancy and together, they were stellar.
I may have been a kid of only four or five at the time, but Don always treated me like an adult. He had great patience and kindness and wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. In many ways, he was larger than life. He was robust and athletic and dapper all at the same time. I remember Don’s Triumph, TR-3 . He and Nancy would crest the hill on Hesenthaller Road, at Milly and Frank’s great farm, with a cloud of dust swirling behind them. Whatever the gathering all those outside or inside would look up and say, “They’re here!” Don would jump out with great vigor and Nancy preferred to “open her door” with great warmth and smile. Everyone’s day just got brighter.
However, It wasn’t until 1969, when I went to RIT, that I truly got to know Don. One day I walked the two or three miles down to Town Line Road and knocked on the back door. Some would say I never left and they are right! It’s the same reason the soul of Don or Nancy will never leave me. Don helped me rebuild an engine one January weekend in the freezing cold of the big barn. I was freezing and shivering and he just smiled and looked at me like I was a wimp. He taught me how to play tennis better tan I could have ever imagined at our private courts behind the house (Monroe Community College). He showed me how to mix the perfect dry Martini. If I was dating, he and Nancy would invite us out and Don would pay. I got to see Don move from employee to a business owner. I got to see a great family grow. It was a great education that will last me for my lifetime.
Tonight, I mourn the loss of my special friend and cousin. May God bless him and as all have echoed... reunite him with Nancy.
Love,
Robin

What more can I add except to echo the comments of our many cousins. That personalized inlaid jewelry box which I have cherished over the years will continue to be a source of great memories about your dad. Don will be missed and I am sure he is in a better place. I will be in Friday to pay my respects.
Love Gary

My thoughts are with the Finch boys and their grandmother Milly this week with the passing of their father Don. I have many fond memories of cousin Don. What comes to mind most immediately is Don’s rugged good looks and athletic vitality — a true Marlboro man. His swing and jive on the dance floor with Nancy was the envy of everyone. His love of the outdoors and his scouting tutelage was passed on to many. His hard work and devotion to family will be cherished. His kindness to my brother Robin during those years at RIT was much appreciated. And those who are lucky enough to possess one: Don’s beautiful hand-made wooden boxes, some with appliqués, would be fitting memory of him. Don was an individualist and I remember him fondly. I regret I won’t be able to make the trek to Rochester on Friday to share more memories and thoughts about my cousin.

We are so very sorry to hear of my cousin Don's passing. I will fondly remember the time my parents and brother Bill spent with Aunt Milly, Uncle Frank and Don at Industry - we had so much fun and there was always laughter in the air. We are sorry we aren't able to get up to Buffalo this time however, our thoughts and prayers are with you and I know Don is now at peace.
