Obituary of Kenneth L Howell

Kenneth Lee Howell, 75, died on December 11, 2017, in Henrietta, NY. Ken was born on August 14, 1942, in Glen Richey, PA, and moved to Rochester, NY, in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman at Fort Benning, GA, from 1964 to 1966. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He received an associate's degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and worked as a machinist at Gleason Works for almost 50 years. He lived in Henrietta, NY, for 45 years. Ken is survived by his daughter, Nancy Howell of Brookline, MA; his son, Justin Howell of Henrietta, NY; his granddaughter, Niyah Howell of Henrietta, NY; his brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Barbara Howell of North Chili, NY; his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Joseph Van Hoyweghen Jr. of PA; two nephews, Alan Howell of Hilton, NY, and Joseph Van Hoyweghen III of Erie, PA; and a niece, Betsy Hennigan of Greece, NY. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Frances Howell of Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Homer Howell Jr. and Margaret Ward. He will be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of cars and collectibles and for making spontaneous stops at garage sales. He was fond of nature and animals, especially his most recent companion, Buddy the cat. Ken found great joy in restoring cars and running errands with his son, shopping with his daughter, spending time with his granddaughter, and sharing meals with family and friends.
