Dear Extended Kanack Family,
Ben, Sonya and I wish to extend to you our heart felt sympathies. It is very hard to lose any loved one and a beloved Mom, Aunt and Grandmother is especially hard. We’ve had you in our thoughts over the last several days and hope that you have the memories and stories of Mrs. Kanack ( Gladys) to soothe your sorrows.
I remember your Mom from all the visits to the String House I did over the many years, The store was filled with the scent of well cared for violins and other stringed instruments and Mrs. Kanack was always helpful, interested and a good listener. It was , in short, a kind of sanctuary in my mind. It must be quite a lovely feeling to have obtained all her goodness and wisdom about music and playing violin, viola and cello over the years. You are a lucky family to have had such a person in your lives. Gladys was an important and beloved part of the musical community.
We wish you peace, rest, and the comfort of friends and family as you grieve your profound loss of Mrs. Gladys Kanack. Again our sincere condolences for your loss of a fine person, your Mom and Grandma, Gladys Kanack.
With love, Linda , Ben and Sonya.

I always enjoyed shopping at the String House, primarily to watch the loving interaction between Alex Kanack and his beloved wife ,Gladys. These beautiful people were the personification of old school love and grace.
Once I joined the faculty of the Kanack School,I had the wonderful opportunity to witness first hand the magnificent Kanack matriarch,Gladys. The pride and love that she held for her daughter,Alice and grandchildren,Daphne and Zander was a powerful tribute to the transformative love of a family.I was always touched by her affection toward me and support of my work.
She leaves a legacy of great musicianship, grace and love through all she did and the many people she touched. How blessed are we who were gifted with her presence.
My deepest condolences to her family. She will continue to shine through you.
