Obituary of Benjamin Jackson

Passed away December 19, 2017. Predeceased by his father, Robert Jackson. Survived by his wife, Effie; daughter, Melina; mother, Phyllis Jackson; sisters, Sarah (Skip) Weaver, Emily Jackson; 3 nephews, 1 niece; grandmother, Patricia Jackson, several aunts uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute to a charity benefiting Parkinson's Disease in Ben's memory. Friends and family may call TUESDAY January 2, 2017 from 4-7 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 Winton Rd. S where Ben's Memorial Service will follow at 7 PM.

Throughout his life Ben lived in Dansville, NY; Rochester, NY; Greenville, SC; Charleston, SC; and Atlanta, GA.  He enjoyed fine food, wine, golfing, music, and concerts.  Ben had a successful career in sales and management, and took a special interest in training and leadership.  He was skilled at building electronic systems including car audio systems and computers.  He enjoyed traveling and visited all corners of the United States, as well as England, France, Italy, Greece, and Bora Bora.  His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and daughter.

After being diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s Disease, Ben worked to raise awareness at the local, state, and national level.  He joined local support groups, and helped educate other members.  He traveled to Washington, DC to meet with lawmakers and lobby for increased funding.  He also participated in several research studies to advance the search for a cure.
