Obituary of Harlin Fred Schanz

At age 87, passed away on February 3, 2018 at Advent House in Fairport, NY. Harlin was born on August 30th, 1930 in LeRoy, NY to Fred and Alice Schanz. Harlin grew up in LeRoy, NY. He graduated from LeRoy High School in 1948. After high school Harlin attended RIT graduating with a degree in lithography. Harlin proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 as a military policeman in Europe. He worked for many years at Stecher-Tongue-Schmidt as a platemaker in Rochester, NY before opening a print shop in the basement of the former Lincoln Tower in Rochester. Harlin was predeceased by wives Ann Capello and Susan Pignato. He is survived by his life partner Carolyn Wilson, son David Schanz, daughter-in-law Jacquie Schanz, Carolyn's daughters Jenny Wilson and Carolee Ali, son-in-law Ed Ali, and grandchildren Heather, Jason, Andrea, Alison, Ray, Jamie, and Sami along with many friends and associates. Family and friends are invited to call at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14623) on MONDAY (2/5/18) from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Interment will take place in Saint Mary's Cemetery (near 8961 Main St, Honeoye, NY 14471 - just South of St. Mary's Church towards Briggs St. on Richmond Center Rd.) on TUESDAY (2/6/17) at 9:00 AM. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 6681 Camden Hills Drive, Victor, NY 14564 immediately following the burial. Harlin's Memorial Funeral Service will be celebrated at John Calvin Presbyterian Church (50 Ward Hill Rd, Henrietta, NY 14467) on SATURDAY (2/17/18) at 3:00 PM.
