Obituary of Christine M. Fendley

Christine M. Fendley Rochester: Originally from Rockville Maryland 08/03/1942 She is survived by her daughters Sara (Geoff Wilson), Christine Elizabeth and Maryasque. In 1977 Christine Fendley gathered a group of gifted artists to produce dance performances in Rochester. Officially renamed Park Avenue Dance in 1988, the company contributed to the wellspring of art in Rochester providing classes to adults and children bringing in internationally trained professionals and visiting performers. Her work with AEI, Wolftrap and other educational contributors to art were her life's passion along with the creativity of the company. Collaboration and community were the very foundation of her artistic integrity, providing a fertile ground for cultivating artistic expression of the highest quality. Along with her artistic work she was passionate about politics, women's rights, education, cooking and the very earth itself, from the mountains to the sea. She was an expansive thinker and a brilliant creator in many aspects. She was deeply invested in her remarkable friendships with many amazing, talented, and special people. She was married to Walter Asque Fendley for 52 years. He was, not only the love of her life and her greatest joy but an enormous support to her family and her artistic mission in life. Her daughters will cherish the memory of them both and their profound love forever. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday March 24 at 11AM in Christ Episcopal Church, 36 South Main Street, Pittsford. Donations in her name may be made to ARTISANworks, Susan B.
