Obituary of Janice C. Reif

Janice Merle Craig Reif 1934-2018 Passed away on March 11, 2018 at age 83. She is predeceased by her parents, Boyd L. Craig and Lena Neighbors Craig, and in early 2018, by her loving husband of 61 years, Herbert R. Reif. She is survived by her sister, Sandra (Gerald) Fankhouser; children, Sandy (Hoyt) Brown & Tim Reif; grandchildren, Zach & Noah Brown, Connor & Tyler Reif & their mother, Alison Foote Reif; niece, Lynn F. Farrah; and nephew, Craig Fankhouser. Janice was a 1952 graduate of Parkersburg (W.Va.) High School and a 1956 graduate of Marietta College, where she sang in the elite women's choir, joined Chi Omega, and met & married Herb. She served as an elementary school librarian in the East Irondequoit CSD from 1976 until retirement in the early 1990s. Janice was a faithful member of Fairport United Methodist Church for almost 50 years. During retirement, she served wholeheartedly on the FUMC outreach committee, quietly serving needs of hundreds of community members through two decades of participation. She and Herb resided in Fairport for 50 years. The family is grateful to the staff at Woodcrest Commons in Henrietta and the Jewish Home of Rochester for their loving care over the past year, as well as to the Northfield in Fairport for their support prior to that. Family and friends are invited to Janice's Memorial Service on April 20, 2018, 3:00 p.m. at Fairport United Methodist Church, 31 West Church Street, Fairport, NY 14450.
