My heartfelt condolences to Lela and Family at the loss of husband and father. Tony was a very good man and we will miss him. R.I.P. "Tough" Tony Romano, a big part of Rochester's rich BOXING history and an outstanding family man. The last "10 count" has sounded for Tony. I first met Tony,I believe the year was 1960 or 1961. You will recall Tony and his wife lived on First St in the city of Roch. I knew Lela's sister Tori (Marguarite Marchese) and it was at that time that Tori was going to babysit for her sister and Tony. Tori invited me over to meet her sister and Tony. At the introduction Tony looked at me and said" be good and respectful to my sister-in-law or you'll have to answer to me". After saying that he winked at me and smirked. I know what he meant, being Italian and clean cut, I was good in his eyes. The next time we met I was no longer a kid and Tony was an adult. At that time Flag Football team leagues were getting popular. I was on Tony's team and Tony was the quarterback. I remember his motto, " if you can't beat them one way you beat them another way", ha ha, we all knew what he meant. It was at that time we were re-united, and talked about the time we first met and he read me the riot act about being good and respectful to Tori. Tori and I saw each other numerous times after that and reminisced about the past. then I believe she transferred to another school (Monroe?) and never saw her again. I ran into Tony many times after that and always asked him about Tori and he always smiled and said she is married, stay away, or else. I will always remember him and all the laughs. May he rest in peace, and Lela please accept my condolences.
Respectfully yours,
Joe Cirilla

Joey, we are sorry to learn of your dad's passing. He passed his love of the outdoors and nature on to you. What a great article about him in today's D&C. We didn't know about his boxing fame. You and your family are in our thoughts.
Fondly,
Sandy and Bob

To my brother ... I will miss you ... you saw the world thru innocent eyes and made us all laugh when you took it to literal ... you wore your emotions and feelings on your sleeve and you loved with all your heart. You enjoyed the simple things in life while the rest of us make it too complicated. I really hope you are playing gin with Dad and Joey and are kicking Joey’s butt. I bet your all laughing. I know you are driving with the window down and fishing in a beautiful boat with someone else driving the boat while you are catching fish in the sun... I will always remember you and smile. I love you and miss you
